Using Family AI

Family AI provides private AI conversations, shared conversations, and related features. You need an account to use the service. Keep your sign-in details secure and use the service only in ways that are lawful and respectful of other people's privacy.

Do not use Family AI to threaten, harass, impersonate, or unlawfully access another person's account or information. You are responsible for the content you choose to submit or share.

Private and shared conversations

Your private Jim/Julie companion may use relevant context from your own private AI chats and your own private Conflict Area, as well as shared Work It Out conversations and neutral summaries or agreements that remain available to you. It never accesses your partner's private AI chats or private Conflict Area. Detailed conflict content is available only during the usual post-resolution retention period; after it is deleted, only neutral summary or agreement information still retained may be used. The companion uses sensitive past context when relevant to your current message and does not publish anything automatically. Private drafts and clarification messages are not included in shared conversation context unless you explicitly approve sharing them.

Partner Chat is a direct, human-only chat: messages are visible to its participants, and Family AI never posts AI messages there. AI assistance requires both partners' consent and applies only to new messages after the mutual-consent boundary. Two or three meaningful messages from each person make an exchange eligible for private assessment only; this does not itself trigger an offer. An optional offer may be made only when there is a genuine unresolved disagreement. Accepting starts a separate private, conflict-aware check-in for each partner. Nothing enters the shared conversation unless explicitly approved as a neutral context note; raw Partner Chat messages are never added to the shared transcript or automatically copied into permanent private AI memory. Turning off either person's consent stops new retrieval.

AI and service availability

AI responses are generated automatically and can be incomplete, mistaken, or unsuitable. They are not professional, medical, legal, or emergency advice. Use your own judgment and seek appropriate human help when needed.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features as the service develops. No uninterrupted or error-free availability is promised.

Images, notifications, and devices

If you upload an image, it is stored with your account and may be sent to OpenAI as image input when you request an AI feature that uses it. Push notifications are optional and use device subscriptions and related jobs when enabled.

An encrypted device cache is not end-to-end encryption. Other people who have already received or cached shared content may retain their copies.

Deleting an account

You can request deletion after signing in through a web browser at /family-ai/account/delete; the Family AI app does not need to be installed. Deletion removes private account data and redacts your own shared content, but it cannot recall a partner's content or copies already received or cached on devices.
